Price parity with petrol/diesel update

Will your next car be electric now that used EVs have reached price parity with their petrol/diesel equivalents?

A firm family favourite is a VW Golf petrol 1.5 auto. Right now 2 year old models with under 20k miles cost about £21k. For around £20k you could go fully electric with a VW ID.3 which offers a lot more space inside than the Golf and more acceleration too.  Its realworld range tops 200 miles and a full charge at home will cost a maximum of £13 (less if you sign up to an EV tariff).  On a 4 year PCP with a 20% deposit you could have a top spec VW ID.3 for £250/month.

If you need a lot of space – maybe you are looking at a 2 year old Skoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDi diesel 5 seater – for the same price you could go fully electric with the Skoda Enyaq iV 60. Range tops 200 miles realworld, and a full charge at home will cost £13 or less. The Enyaq will give more space and speed than the Kodiaq – more fun! On a 4 year PCP with a 20% deposit you could have a great spec Skoda Enyaq iV 60 for £330/month.

If you need performance and an executive fastback look, the Polestar 2 is fabulous and gives about 250 miles of realworld range.  3 year old models with under 30k miles are cheaper than say an Audi A6 3 litre diesel and a second quicker 0-60mph (4.5 seconds for the Polestar versus 5.5 seconds for the Audi).  The Audi is around £30k to purchase and a Polestar with equivalent age/miles will be around £26k.  This works out at £320/month on a 4 year PCP with 20% deposit.  A full charge at home would cost £17.44 (less if you opt for an overnight EV tariff).
