EV winter weather comforts

From black ice to big puddles, British weather has been putting us to the test over the past few weeks.  We have been trying out the puddle lights built into some of our stock, which help drivers avoid puddles, ice patches or something unpleasant when stepping out of their cars.

Invented nearly two decades ago to, it was in 2015 that car makers made them fancy.  On our forecourt we are loving the VWs (which also have illuminated door handles in the Comfort Pack plus), the Mustang running horse, Audi Q4, Mini and an after-market Tesla version too.

Electric cars have lots of features for tackling winter conditions and provide warm, comfortable rides.  Most will pre-condition – simply tell your car what time you plan to leave and it will warm itself up ready.  This means that the cabin is the temperature you want it, the rear and wind screens are defrosted and the battery is at its optimal temperature for efficient driving.

Other lovely features for this weather include heated front seats (Nissan Leaf Teknas, Teslas and Jaguars have heated rear seats too), heated steering wheels, heat pumps and auto climate control for efficient cabin heating. One of our favourites as the sun sets so early is high beam assist, which automatically dips headlights for oncoming traffic – widely available on newer EVs.
